A Yellow Coat
I have been wanting that yellow leather jacket from Buffy the Vampire Slayer since I was 15. But I’ve also been on the hunt for a yellow winter coat for a good 10 years now too.
And I’m not super picky…as long it’s the right color of yellow and is long enough to cover my butt, and looks good….I’ll be happy.
Think Faith Hill in her Stealing Kisses video….
Remember – butt and neck need to be warm.
Today I put up my Christmas tree. This may be the earliest I’ve put it up but, it has been crappy weather outside, I’m home, and after doing some crazy Black Friday weekend shopping yesterday in the City with the girls (followed by an evening of spicy wine and girl chats) I was kind of in the mood.
So, the tree is up, the presents are underneath (although not yet wrapped), and I did some more shopping this afternoon.
I also got a massive splinter underneath my fingernail in the midst of all this, which is still dug in there and doesn’t seem like it’s planning to vacate itself anytime soon.
But, since I’m at the computer already and basically in the Christmas mood, here is the very first of my Christmas Wish List posts for 2016.
I love bib necklaces. They are the perfect way to make a statement and dress up any outfit.
I have a few “sorta” bib necklaces, but when I visited Amazon recently I was overwhelmed and jealous of all the gorgeous necklaces that popped up. I want one…or two….or a half dozen.
Listen, if anyone out there in WordPress Land wants to indulge me and buy me a bib necklace like these – or any variation – I happily accept.
Ack! If you know me you know that I love dresses. Love them. Live in them throughout spring, summer, and half of fall. Basically, I live in dresses until the weather is too cold to go bare-legged and wear open toe shoes.
So it’s very fitting that the next four items on my wish list are dresses. Not just dresses but gorgeous dresses that I must have in my wardrobe.
#1 This turquoise dress is what dreams are made of *sigh*
#2 This cream dress is a fairy tale
#3 Every girl needs a little black dress (or 10) and this LBD is so bewitching
#4 My favorite color is yellow and this dress, although not as elegant as the others, is adorbs. And I could totally wear it to work.

Last year I posted several time on items on my Christmas wish list and luckily someone was paying attention because a few of my gifts were directly from the list (my sister-in-law ROCKS!). So, I thought, for fun, I’d continue the list for 2013.
#1 This Sweater
I.Love.This.Sweater. But I’m cheap and it’s about a hundred bucks before shipping and taxes so I highly doubt I’ll expect it – unless Santa wants to drop it down the chimney. But there’s something so eye catching about those robins.
I WANT THIS:
I know Christmas is over and I can’t add to my Holiday Wish List but I can’t stop looking at this tank. I think it’s too cute. Who said Animal Prints were out??
Pineapple Print Dress
Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good dress. As soon as spring hits and all the damn snow has melted I live in dresses until the end of fall (or until it gets too cold to go bare-legged).
A few years ago I spotted a pineapple print dress in a magazine and have been on the lookout for one since. Sadly, I haven’t found any. But my eyes are still open. Maybe Santa will be kind and bring me one. Here are a few of my favorites:
Aren’t these all adorable? I can’t wait to find one I like so that I can wear it and feel like summer again.
How magnificent are these glitzy, sparkly booties? I think everyone needs a little bling for their feet. I would totally rock these. Unfortunately, I don’t know who makes them….so I may have to do a little glitter painting to my regular booties.
A Bedazzled Collar
My friend over at Fashion For Lunch (http://fashionforlunch.wordpress.com/) introduced me to this gorgeous Gemma Lister collar. I absolutely love it! And have been admiring it for quite some time.
A few weeks ago I picked up a collar at H&M. It’s pretty but not quite the same…..
….However, I feel that both myself and FFF are very festive. 🙂
Remember playing dress up as a child? I used to love getting decked out in over-sized dresses, beads and high heels and pretending I was a princess. When I was really little, like maybe 4 or 5 I had this God-awful emerald green satin dress that I wore to a Sunday School Christmas concert. I think my grandmother made it. And I absolutely loved it. It was down to my ankles and when I twirled, the dress flowed out like it should for a princess. I LOVED that dress. I loved it so much, in fact, that I would put it on everyday. When I was first starting in school I would come home and put that dress on. I was so proud of it.
I was watching a TV show earlier that showed a clip of Disney and Beauty and the Beast. Belle’s dress reminded me of my green dress:
My mother tried to throw that dress out so many times. But when I would come home and discover it was missing I would just go to the garbage and dig it out. No way would I let that dress leave me. I’d totally bonded with it.
I find it completely adorable when I see Abby constantly putting on the dress she wore in a wedding several years ago. Blair wants to throw it out…it doesn’t fit her anymore, it doesn’t close up in the back, and it’s getting rather short. But it’s beautiful and I completely understand why she wants to put it on on almost a daily basis (although, I must admit, it would be nice if she would start hanging it back up instead of one of us having to pick it up off the floor). She’s a girl; therefore she is a princess and she wants to twirl around in the frills and the ribbon and all that lace. *sigh* I miss those days.
I spent my teenage years in the 90’s. Which means (as I’ve posted several times before, like here blog-challenge-20-my-favorite-tv-show) I grew up watching Beverly Hills, 90210. And because it was the 90’s and the show was addictive and these girls (Brenda, Kelly, Donna and Andrea) were meant to be role models, I kinda idolized Shannen Doherty.
Shannen Doherty played Brenda Walsh. Brenda started out as a nice girl. A bit of a drama queen, but still she was a nice girl. But as Shannen Doherty’s real life antics and reputation began to catch up with her – or maybe it was vice versa – Brenda became more of a bitch and people hated them both.
Shannen was said to have been fired from BH, 90210 (but who ever really knows the truth, right?) because of attitude, conflicts and her personal life spiraling out of control. But I never gave up on Shannen. I have, and always will be, a fan.
I don’t want to say I was obsessed with Shannen/Brenda but I did revere her immensely. She had style, she exuded confidence, she was (is) gorgeous and she told it like it was. Like Jennifer Aniston started “The Rachel” hairstyle, Shannen Doherty started “The Brenda Bangs” and I wanted them soooo badly!
Unfortunately, I have naturally curly hair and the 90’s preceded hair straighteners (at least for me) and I ended up looking, as my friend Heather says, like I had a wallet stuck to my head! (I was going to post a photo here of my 15 year old self with my Brenda Bangs but I decided not to do that to you. )
My first ever purchased* YM Magazine (is that even still made??) I picked up solely because Shannen was on the cover.
(*My first EVER YM Magazine was purchased by my aunt, Donna, because it had Christian Slater on the cover and we both loved him.)
In the 8th grade I had seen this photo of Shannen in Seventeen magazine (which I think I eventually ripped off from the school library – and felt bad so I donated a bunch of other crappy magazines to replace it):
That summer, my mom and I were in the City shopping and I came across a similar one and my mommy, being as awesome as she is, bought it for me.
It’s exactly the same color, although you can’t tell from the crappy picture. And it doesn’t have the fur collar but other than that it’s the same one Shannen rocked. Of course, in the *ahem* few years that have passed since Junior High I’ve gotten taller and longer and the jacket doesn’t quite work anymore.
Last year I really wanted Shannen’s book, BADASS. And my lovely honey bunny bought it for me for Christmas.
I finally got around to starting it the other night (I’ve been addicted to my John Grisham books, sorry Shannen) and it is very insightful. We have a window into some of the things that caused Shannen’s bad girl behaviour, and for the most part, she owns up to it. She’s now moved on from bad girl to Badass. And she owns it!
If you have the opportunity, pick up the book (just please, don’t rip it off from your library) and give it a read. And become a fan of Shanned Doherty once again. She deserves a second chance.
And remember, don’t judge a book by its cover…unless the book is BADASS.
