I’ve had this book, The Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking, saved to my desktop at work for a long time.
Although I couldn’t really care less about gluten-free recipes, I am really into whole foods and clean eating. I don’t practice clean eating all the time, but I am in love with the Whole 30 program and do it often. In fact, I’m planning on a recharge at the start of the new year (anyone with me??).
This book has tons of plant-based recipes that look pretty easy and delicious. It’s not high on my wish list, but I would love to try out some of the recipes.
When I was in Junior High I was obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie, not the shitty TV show – sorry Cat). I was especially into her tough girl-ness, and the fact that she rocked a boxing bag.
My brother has been a boxer since his early teens and I’ve always been a little envious of his boxing equipment. He’s let me utilize some of it in the past, but he’s sort of a grump and I’d rather play with my nephews when I’m there anyway.
Several years ago I started attending kickboxing classes off and on. And I absolutely love it. I still go on occasion, but to be honest, it can get expensive AND when I’m teaching my own classes, I don’t always have the energy to go to other classes (aside from Zumba). But, I love boxing.
So, on my wish list this year, aside from my all my princess gear, I’m adding a free-standing boxing bag.
That way, I can haul it out and workout at home any time I want.
Today I put up my Christmas tree. This may be the earliest I’ve put it up but, it has been crappy weather outside, I’m home, and after doing some crazy Black Friday weekend shopping yesterday in the City with the girls (followed by an evening of spicy wine and girl chats) I was kind of in the mood.
So, the tree is up, the presents are underneath (although not yet wrapped), and I did some more shopping this afternoon.
I also got a massive splinter underneath my fingernail in the midst of all this, which is still dug in there and doesn’t seem like it’s planning to vacate itself anytime soon.
But, since I’m at the computer already and basically in the Christmas mood, here is the very first of my Christmas Wish List posts for 2016.
I love bib necklaces. They are the perfect way to make a statement and dress up any outfit.
I have a few “sorta” bib necklaces, but when I visited Amazon recently I was overwhelmed and jealous of all the gorgeous necklaces that popped up. I want one…or two….or a half dozen.
Listen, if anyone out there in WordPress Land wants to indulge me and buy me a bib necklace like these – or any variation – I happily accept.
I’m such a birthday whore and I don’t even try to hide it.
So far it’s been a great morning. I am feeling the love thru phone calls, emails, visits and Facebook messages.
I’ve gotten some great little gifts from loving friends too. The first thing I got this morning was this virtual cake from my friend Clevey (shout out!):
Pineapple Print Dress
Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good dress. As soon as spring hits and all the damn snow has melted I live in dresses until the end of fall (or until it gets too cold to go bare-legged).
A few years ago I spotted a pineapple print dress in a magazine and have been on the lookout for one since. Sadly, I haven’t found any. But my eyes are still open. Maybe Santa will be kind and bring me one. Here are a few of my favorites:
Aren’t these all adorable? I can’t wait to find one I like so that I can wear it and feel like summer again.
Happy December! Although I’ve been sorta giddy about Christmas and the holidays, as of yesterday (December 1st) I’ve officially decided to kick off the Christmas season.
Yesterday I spent the late morning and early afternoon with Angie Whoreface and her sister (& nephew, who was designated cart-pusher) doing some Christmas shopping. Regardless of where I go/am with Angie, it is always a blast. That girl keeps me in stitches. Of course, my spontaneous dance party in Walmart gave her a good chuckle too.
When I got home I was determined that my Christmas tree would be going up. I rearranged some furniture, dug out the decorations and got the beast up and decorated. And to put the final touch on THAT, I wrapped a crapload of presents and shoved them underneath. Of course, there are still bags and bags of gifts in my bedroom that need to be sorted and wrapped….and I’m not finished my shopping yet….but at least there’s a dent in that chore.
In the evening, Angie and her boyfriend’s sister, Tina popped over and we had an impromptu girls’ night. And to top off our evening (aside from the wine) we watched a Christmas movie: ELF.
I love Elf. It’s one of my favorite Christmas movies (and it was the second time I’d watched it inside of a week). It’s so funny. Will Ferrell is often annoying but I love him. Especially in this film. And it was just the kind of humor we needed for our evening.
My friend Anic is attempting a 25 days of Christmas movies challenge. I doubt that I can pull that off but I’m going to try and post about some of the different Christmas films I watch this year (and some of the
classics my favorites).
So, while I sit here and enjoy a cup of Candy Cane Coffee and contemplate starting some Christmas baking, Jack Frost is playing in the background on TV. I’ve never seen it. It seems kinda lame. But Michael Keaton is still kinda cute so…y’know, there’s that.
